You have heard so much about CrossFit and you’re finally ready to give it a go. That’s great! You’ll get to discover more about the workout your friends have been raving about.
Walking through the doors for your first CrossFit session is the biggest step but rest assure, this can actually be one of the hardest parts! Now you have committed to showing up, there are a few things to know. These tips for your first training session will make things easier.
- Eat first (just not too much)
What we do requires energy! To make the most of your workout, you need to have fuel in the tank. However, if you have a huge meal before you start your training, you’ll find your stomach starts to complain. Have a small, protein-based snack or shake before you get going and you’ll feel better.
- Bring your towel and a drink bottle
What we do works and we will work with you to get life long sustainable results and this means you’re gonna sweat. Pack your own towel and drink bottle.
- Start slow…
Ease in to what we do, as we believe small steps is the key to success. If you go all out straight away, you’ll more then likely end up with an injury. Listen to your Coach and they’ll keep you on truck and make sure you’re not overdoing it.
- …but don’t be afraid to challenge yourself
With the above being said, don’t hold back too much. Try some things you never thought you would be able to do. You might find you’re not so successful but at least you can set a starting point to work from, and your Coach will help you progress and keep moving forward.
- Track your results
When you become apart of our Tribe > ‘Human Fitness’, you will be given FREE access to our workout app ‘WodUp’, You will receive an email inviting you into our program, and how to download on your smartphone. One of the key components of what we do and your training is tracking your results. Nothing down your achievements from the get-go will help you and your Coach track/ chart measurable improvements.
- Invest in some quality footwear
Most of our Students wear comfortable fitted clothing as it helps their Coaches see how their body is moving. You may be happier in something loose, and that’s fine. However, what you’re wearing on your feet is important and is well worth a small investment. Everyone is different and may require different footwear, however, we advise training flats as we believe that they are the most effective way to move well and stay injury-free, getting the most out of your training sessions.
- Do some research.
We will introduce you to a whole new lingo and it can feel overwhelming at first. Before your first class, maybe Google a few CrossFit terms to understand what they mean, however, don’t be afraid to ask your fellow Athletes or Coach, and before you know it you will be talking a whole new language.
- Remember, everyone was you once.
The most seasoned Athletes in our gym all started as newbies with no idea what they were doing. When you enter the gym, you may witness some incredible talent and some inspiring bodies. But rest assure everyone starts somewhere and nothing was achieved overnight! Be motivated by vetrain Athletes, not intimidated.
- Listen to your Coach.
One of the biggest benefits of training at our facility is you have a Coach working with you constantly. Make the most of this by asking for advice and taking cues from them. With their advice and guidance, you’ll be able to achieve better results, in the fastest safest way possible.
- Bring a smile
This is the big one! We are a community, a family with a huge focus on not only your Health and Wellbeing but friendship and FUN. As well as working out, you’re setting yourself up for some life-changing friendships. Get ready to support and be supported while you’re on your amazing fitness journey with us.
